SHADD FARMS

As a lover of agriculture, John L. Shadd created Shadd Farms as the result of a lifelong dream to cultivate an area of Union County. These acres have been used for raising animals (including whitetail deer), harvesting crops, hunting, growing timber, and other farming projects. On any given day, you can find Mr. Shadd mowing grass, picking up pecans, or feeding his deer. He agrees with Wendell Berry that, “The care of the earth is our most ancient and most worthy, and after all our most pleasing responsibility."
